Feb. 1, 1960: Greensboro Four Sit-Ins

On this day in 1960, four men – David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair, Jr., and Joseph McNeil – staged the first sit-in at the “whites-only” lunch counter at the Woolworth’s in Greensboro, N.C.
