Feb. 8, 1828: Jules Verne

On this day in 1828, novelist, poet, and playwright Jules Verne was born in Nantes, France. He’s most famous for adventure novels such as Journey to the Center of the Earth, Around the World in Eighty Days, and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. He’s been translated all over the world and is considered one of the founding forebears of science fiction. He died in 1905 of diabetes.
