April 5, 1950: Ann C. Crispin

On this day in 1950, author Ann C. Crispin was born in Stamford, Connecticut. She wrote popular tie-in novels for the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises, including Yesterday’s Son and Sarek (Star Trek) and The Han Solo Trilogy (Star Wars). Her own original series, the StarBridge novels, was directed at young readers. She served as Vice President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and helped found the Writer Beware watchdog group. She died of cancer in 2013 at age 63.
