On this day in 1967, actor John Barrowman was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He’s best known for his portrayal of Capt. Jack Harkness in the BBC television shows Doctor Who and Torchwood. However, he also appeared in theatrical productions of Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, and Sunset Boulevard, as well as the movies De-Lovely and The Producers (2005). Barrowman is also a writer, and has teamed with his sister Carole to write the Hollow Earth series of young-adult fantasy novels.
