Feb. 23, 1944: Bernard Cornwell

On this day in 1944, author Bernard Cornwell was born in London, England. He’s best known for historical novels, including a series about Richard Sharpe, a rifleman during the Napoleonic Wars. His Sharpe novels were adapted for a television series starring Sean Bean. He now lives in the United States, dividing his time between Charleston, S.C., and Cape Cod.
