Word Archaeology: drosometer

This word refers to a device that measures the amount of dew on a surface. It’s derived from the Greek “drosos” (dew) and French “metre” (meter). One version of the instrument is a hemispheric glass vacuum cup exposed to atmosphere. Dew collects in the bottom of the cup for weighing.
