On this day in 1910, Lee de Forest transmitted the world’s first public broadcast in New York City. The show featured music from the Metropolitan Opera House, such as Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci, performed by Riccardo Martin, Emmy Destinn, and Enrico Caruso. It was conducted by Egisto Tango.
